MDS TREK MOROCCO 2027

You will meet the MDS team on the morning of Sunday, October 10, 2027, in Ouarzazate, before taking the organized transfers to the desert. To travel to Morocco and Ouarzazate, you can fly into one of the following airports:

• Ouarzazate Airport

Fly to Ouarzazate before the adventure and stay one or more nights at a hotel at your own expense, then make your way to the meeting point on the morning of October 10. We recommend arriving on October 9 to make sure you do not miss the shuttle transfers on Sunday, October 10.

• Marrakech Airport

Shuttle transfers will be organized on the morning of Saturday, October 9, between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, with a journey time of approximately 5 hours. You can either book a flight to Marrakech and take one of our shuttles to Ouarzazate upon arrival, or stay one or more nights in Marrakech and take a shuttle to Ouarzazate on October 9.

You will therefore need to book one or more hotel nights in Ouarzazate, depending on your arrival date. These nights must be booked and paid for separately. Our local partner travel agency can assist you with your accommodation arrangements: ltstravel.maroc@gmail.com.

The return journey at the end of the MDS follows the same principle.

If you wish, you can use the buses provided for the journey between Ouarzazate and Marrakech, which takes approximately 5 hours. These buses will leave Ouarzazate on the morning of October 19, so you should book a return flight from Marrakech departing from 2:00 PM onwards.

If you are flying home from Ouarzazate, you are free to arrange your own journey from your hotel to the airport and can book your flight at a time that suits you.

All this information will be available in your MDS account once you have registered. You will receive the full transfer schedule by email. You can also extend your stay in Morocco by booking additional accommodation at your own expense after Tuesday, October 19.

We strongly recommend booking flights with cancellation and change insurance, given the restrictions that may be imposed by individual countries.

• Sunday: Meet in Ouarzazate, transfer to the bivouac, first night at the bivouac.
• Monday: Technical checks, workshop and talk, night at the bivouac.
• Tuesday: First stage, night at the bivouac.
• Wednesday: Second stage, workshop and talk, night at the bivouac.
• Thursday: Start of the third stage, long stage, Star Night.
• Friday: Finish of the third stage, night at the bivouac.
• Saturday: Rest day, workshop and talk, night at the bivouac.
• Sunday: Fourth stage, night at the hotel.
• Monday: Day at the hotel, gala evening, night at the hotel.
• Tuesday: End of the MDS Trek Morocco adventure.

You will share your hotel room with another participant. Once you have registered, you will be able to provide the name of the person or people you would like to share your room with.

Rooms are single-gender unless otherwise requested.

You will be required to present this equipment checklist to the MDS teams during the technical checks.

• A backpack
• A 1.5-litre water container (bottle, hydration bladder, etc.)
• A sleeping bag (for the bivouac only; you will not need to carry it during the stages)
• A headlamp, which must be switched on as soon as night falls, plus one complete set of spare batteries or a spare battery
• 10 safety pins
• 5 stock cubes such as Knorr: you do not have to carry these in your backpack during the stages. They help with rehydration by providing a balanced amount of salt without causing excessive water retention in the stomach.
• A whistle
• A skin antiseptic
• A signalling mirror
• An emergency blanket
• A tube of sunscreen
• Sunglasses
• €100 in cash
• Passport or identity card, depending on the destination
• The official MDS medical certificate completed by a doctor (form available three months before the race; PPS certificates are not accepted)

In addition to the mandatory equipment that must be presented during the technical checks, each participant must bring their own toilet paper for the entire duration of the MDS Trek at the bivouac.

In addition to the mandatory equipment, you are free to bring anything else you may need depending on the level of comfort you want during the MDS Trek.

Remember that you will be able to leave your belongings at the bivouac during the stages.

For the four MDS Trek stages:

• Comfortable, lightweight clothing that is practical and does not cause chafing
• Headwear
• A pair of gaiters to sew or attach to your shoes
• Trekking poles, depending on the terrain

To change into after the stages:

• A comfortable top, which can be long-sleeved
• A lightweight windbreaker
• Leggings
• A pair of flip-flops

For the night

• An inflatable pillow
• Earplugs

Hygiene

• Essentials such as a toothbrush, baby wipes, etc.
• Toilet paper (not provided by the organisers)
• A small first-aid kit (dressings, Vaseline, antiseptic, etc.)
• A lip balm with sun protection

Utensils

• A reusable cup or mug: to avoid the use of large quantities of disposable cups, we recommend bringing your own cup for water, coffee or tea.

The organisation will provide dinner and breakfast, as well as a lunch pack for midday on stage days. There is therefore no need to bring your own food, as the adventure does not require participants to be self-sufficient for meals.

The prices for the MDS Trek Morocco 2026 are as follows:

• MDS Trek Morocco package: €2,450
• From October 28 to 31: €2,350
• From November 1 to 30: €2,400

A €100 discount is available for the first 100 participants to register.

The MDS Trek covers a total distance of 120 km, divided into 4 stages.

The distances are flexible and can be adjusted, allowing you to adapt your adventure to your fitness level. The distance for Stage 3 is fixed.

Throughout the race, you will be supported by the medical and event teams from the start to the finish of each stage.

The routes are marked with poles every 50 to 100 metres, so there is no risk of getting lost. Each participant will also be equipped with a GPS tracking device with an emergency button, allowing the organisation to locate you at any time.

A medical tent will be available at the bivouac, and you can go there at any time if needed.

If difficulties prevent you from completing a stage, you will be taken back to the camp. You will not be ranked for that stage, but you will still be able to take part in the remaining stages and retain your finisher status, even if you are no longer eligible for the official overall ranking.

The number of instalments available may vary depending on the registration date. Your registration will be fully confirmed once the total registration fee has been paid.
