40 hours to test yourself, push your limits, and conquer the Sahara over 100 miles or 100 km.
THE FORMAT
After the success of the first edition, the MDS Ultra is back for a second edition in the Sahara.
An endurance challenge in Ultra-Trail format, with two distance options: 100 miles (~160 km) or 100 km, to be completed self-sufficiently over 40 hours of continuous racing.

The MDS Ultra is a raw and poetic immersion into the very essence of ultra-distance.
The format
Two distances are offered:
It is possible to choose your distance up to the split point. The course is therefore shared over the first kilometers and the final section, with a single start and a common finish line.
Minimum speed: 4 km/h
Maximum time to finish: 40 hours

Terrain
The MDS ULTRA takes place on the footsteps of the MDS Legendary, in the Sahara.
This is an ultra format for which wearing gaiters is strongly recommended. The course is fully marked.
The elevation gain on the 100-mile format is approximately 875 m D+, and on the 100 km format it is approximately 580 m D+. The difficulty does not necessarily come from the elevation gain, but rather from the technical nature of running or walking in the sand and the energy it requires.

You must therefore plan equipment suitable for both heat and cold, as well as for rain.

No external assistance is allowed during the race.

Mandatory, safety & GPS
Each participant must carry the mandatory equipment, including, but not limited to: headlamp, survival blanket, water supply, whistle, rain jacket, fleece, etc. Food for the entire duration of the race.
Each runner will be equipped with a GPS beacon with an SOS button, allowing real-time tracking by the organization. Medical and technical teams are present throughout the course.

The principle
There is no need to run together or cross the finish line side by side: what matters is your individual performance and combined time.
Kasbah Hôtel Xaluca
