One of the goals of this adventure is to allow teams to finance their participation through various means: sponsors, associations, patrons… multiple stakeholders who can help make this project a reality.

Here are the steps to follow if you wish to register for the MDS Handi:

You will need to complete a detailed medical questionnaire to determine whether you are eligible to participate. This will be reviewed by a specialized medical team.

There are two options to reach us for the MDS Morocco: Marrakech or Ouarzazate.

You can choose to arrive at Marrakech Airport, which offers many affordable flights from all over Europe. It is located 5–6 hours away from Ouarzazate by transfer.

Alternatively, you can arrive directly at Ouarzazate Airport, the city where participants stay before and after the adventure.

To simplify everyone’s arrival, we offer you the possibility to choose the airport that suits you best. You must arrive on Friday, October 2nd before 12 p.m.

If you arrive at Marrakech Airport: transfers to Ouarzazate will be organized on Friday, October 2nd (a 5–6 hour journey). Shuttle buses will provide transportation before and after the race, allowing everyone to fully enjoy this experience with complete peace of mind.

If you arrive at Ouarzazate Airport: the hotels are located less than 10 minutes away by taxi, and you will need to get there on your own. Participants will be assigned to different hotels depending on their group and nationality. They will be informed of their assigned hotel a few weeks before the start of the adventure. All hotels are within a 10–15 minute walk of each other.

WHICH FLIGHTS SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?

If you arrive and depart from Marrakech:

Outbound: You may arrive until 12:00 p.m. on October 2nd, the departure time of the last buses providing transfers.

Please note: it takes about two hours to exit Marrakech Airport, including customs and baggage claim. Be sure to choose a flight that arrives early enough for you to catch the last shuttle at 12:00 p.m.

Transfers to Ouarzazate: Transfers will take place throughout the morning and until 12:00 p.m. from Marrakech.

Return: You must choose a return flight after 2:00 p.m. on October 10th to allow enough time for the transfer from Ouarzazate.

Return transfers to Marrakech: Buses providing the return transfer will depart in the morning (shuttle schedules will be adjusted based on the information provided by participants).

If you arrive and depart from Ouarzazate:

Outbound: You may arrive at any time throughout the day on October 2nd, even late in the day.

Return: You may book your return flight at any time on October 10th.

Transfers in Ouarzazate: Hotels are located less than 10 minutes from the airport by taxi, and you will need to get there on your own. A few weeks before the event, we will inform you which hotel you will be staying in. All hotels are within a 10–15 minute walk of each other.

You can also extend your stay in Morocco by booking accommodation in Marrakech, on your own, after Saturday, October 18th.

It is necessary to book airline tickets with cancellation and modification insurance, given the possible restrictions that may be applied by the countries.

Friday: Arrival in Morocco, transfers from Marrakech to the hotel in Ouarzazate.

Saturday: Technical and medical checks, night at the hotel.

Sunday: End of technical/medical checks, transfer to the desert, start of food self-sufficiency, first night in the bivouac.

Monday: First stage, night in the bivouac.

Tuesday: Second stage, night in the bivouac.

Wednesday: Rest day, night in the bivouac.

Thursday: Third stage, night at the hotel.

Friday: Day at the hotel, visit of the Ksar of Aït-Ben-Haddou, award ceremony and gala evening.

Saturday: Return transfers to Marrakech airport, end of the MDS adventure.

You will need to plan for a total of 12 meals as follows:

Day 3: Dinner.
Days 4, 5, and 6: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Day 7: Breakfast, lunch.

An intake equivalent to 2,000 kcal per day is recommended by the organization.

If this is your first MDS, you probably have a lot of questions. Once registered, we will send you a complete equipment checklist, but here is the main gear to have per person:

• Backpack plus 2 water bottles (e.g., Ultrabag 20L)

• T-shirt + running shorts

• Trail running shoes + sand gaiters

• Cap and sunglasses

• Change of clothes: T-shirt + light shorts/leggings

• Windbreaker jacket for evenings and mornings

• Sleeping bag + sleeping mat for the night

• Hygiene products (sunscreen, soap, antiseptic…)

• Toilet paper

• Food and cooking utensils (mess kit, lighter, fire tablet…)

You can also bring a large suitcase with extra clothes, which you will leave at the hotel and retrieve after the MDS adventure.

• 1 race bib for participation in the MDS Handi for one person in a team of 4

• Transfers in an adapted shuttle between Marrakech airport, the hotel, and the desert

• An ultra-trail type racing wheelchair provided per team

• A specialized medical team for MPR and spinal cord injuries

• 4 nights in an accessible hotel room in the Ouarzazate region at the edge of the Sahara (2 nights before the adventure, 2 nights after)

• 4 nights at the MDS Handi bivouac, in a Berber tent adapted to your needs

• AQ-TICA type toilets

• Shower benches at the bivouac

• Medal

• Finisher bracelet

• Gala evening

You can pay by:

Credit card: 1, 3, or 5 installments
Bank transfer: 1 installment

The number of installments may vary depending on the registration date. Your registration will be fully confirmed once the total registration fee has been paid.

Here are the cancellation conditions for the MDS Handi Morocco 2026:

• Cancellation without fees is possible until May 10, 2026.

• From May 11 to June 14, 2026 inclusive, 25% of the total registration fee will be retained by the organization in case of cancellation.

• From June 15 to July 12, 2026 inclusive, 50% of the total registration fee will be retained by the organization in case of cancellation.

• After July 12, 2026, no refund is possible; however, it will still be possible to postpone your registration according to the event’s conditions.

Here are the deferral conditions for the MDS Handi Morocco 2026:

• Until July 12, 2026 inclusive, deferral to the next edition is possible without fees.

• From July 13 to August 23, 2026 inclusive: a €250 fee applies for a deferral.

• From August 24, 2026 onwards: no deferral possible.

During the race, you will be supported by medical and organizational teams from the start to the end of each stage. The routes are marked with stakes every 50–100 meters, making it impossible to get lost. Each participant will be equipped with a GPS tracker with an emergency button, allowing the organization to locate you at any time. A medical tent is available at the bivouac, where you can go at any time.
