MDS LEGENDARY 2027

If you are arriving and departing from Marrakech:

• Outbound: You can arrive earlier, but no later than April 1.
• Transfers to Ouarzazate: Transfers will take place on March 31 and April 1 throughout the morning until 12:00 PM from Marrakech (pickup locations and times below).
• Return: You must book a return flight after 2:00 PM on April 12 to allow enough time for the transfer from Ouarzazate.
• Transfers back to Marrakech: Buses for the return transfer will depart in the morning.

If you are arriving and departing from Ouarzazate:

• Outbound: You can arrive earlier, but no later than April 1.
• Return: You can book your flight at any time on April 12.
• Transfers in Ouarzazate: Participants are responsible for reaching their hotel from the airport on arrival, and vice versa on departure.

Marrakech ↔ Ouarzazate shuttle schedule on March 31 and April 1:

• From the center of Marrakech (meeting at Kenzi Rose Garden Hotel).
• 10:00 AM: From Marrakech airport.
• 12:00 PM: From Marrakech airport.

You will need to book one or more nights in a hotel in Ouarzazate depending on your arrival date. These nights are at your own expense; our local travel partner can assist with bookings: ltstravel.maroc@gmail.com. The return trip at the end of the MDS follows the same logic.

You may, if you wish, use the buses provided to travel between Ouarzazate and Marrakech. These buses will depart Ouarzazate on April 12 at 6:00 AM, so it is necessary to book a return flight from Marrakech after 2:00 PM. If you choose a return flight from Ouarzazate, you are free to manage your hotel–airport transfer and can book your flight at your convenience.

All these details will be available on your MDS account once you register. You will receive a full schedule by email after registration.

It is necessary to purchase plane tickets with cancellation and modification insurance due to potential restrictions imposed by countries.

Here is the schedule for a typical week at the MARATHON DES SABLES Legendary:

• Day 1: Transfer by bus to the bivouac in the desert, setup, and overnight at the bivouac.
• Day 2: Technical, administrative, and medical checks. Overnight at the bivouac.
• Day 3: First stage. Overnight at the bivouac.
• Day 4: Second stage. Overnight at the bivouac.
• Day 5: Third stage. Overnight at the bivouac.
• Days 6 & 7: Fourth stage – “the long stage” – spread over 2 days. Overnight at the bivouac.
• Day 8: Fifth stage. Overnight at the bivouac.
• Day 9: Sixth stage, medal ceremony. Bus transfer to Ouarzazate, overnight at the hotel with half-board accommodation.
• Day 10: Free day in Ouarzazate, prize-giving ceremony, gala evening. Overnight at the hotel with half-board accommodation.
• Day 11: End of the adventure, transfers to the airport.

Mandatory Equipment

Here is the list of mandatory equipment for the MDS Legendary. This equipment will be checked during the technical controls:

• Backpack with water storage: minimum 1.5 L
• Sleeping bag
• Headlamp: minimum 400 lumens + full set of spare batteries
• 10 safety pins
• Compass with 1° or 2° accuracy
• Safety items: whistle, metal-blade knife, survival blanket, signaling mirror, lighter, antiseptic, your passport, and €200 or 2,000 dirhams
• Sunscreen: minimum 50 ml
• Sunglasses
• 14 Knorr-type cubes to be taken twice per day
• Original medical certificate and ECG at rest (PPS certificate not accepted)
• Food: you must carry at least 12,000 kcal (approximately 2,000 kcal per day). To save weight and space, repack your food, note the number of calories (this will be checked at technical controls), and indicate the amount of water to add.

The prices for the MARATHON DES SABLES Legendary – 41st edition are as follows:

• Classic Offer: Race registration with 2 nights in a standard-quality hotel – €3,995 per person
• Superior Offer: Race registration with 2 nights at the Berbère Palace, a luxury hotel – €4,395 per person

Both offers are available to everyone and do not vary based on country of residence.

• Deferral insurance: Option to postpone your participation to another edition free of charge up to 7 days before the start (i.e., until March 26, 2027, at 11:59 PM UTC+1). Conditions are available in the race regulations.
• 2 nights in a double room with half-board in Ouarzazate (standard or superior hotel, depending on the chosen offer)
• Organizational support and medical assistance during the race
• Water supply during the race
• Repatriation assistance
• 8 nights in the bivouac
• Finisher medal
• Finisher gift

Note: The non-finisher option does not apply to the MDS Legendary event.

To participate in the MDS Legendary adventure, certain medical documents are mandatory. They must be presented in their original, paper form, dated and signed, with your full name clearly indicated on each document:

• Official MDS Legendary medical certificate, downloadable from your personal account. It will be available starting March 2, 2027, one month before the event begins. (PPS certificate not accepted)
• Resting electrocardiogram (ECG), including the tracing, performed within the month preceding the start of the event (on or after March 2, 2027).

No digital copies or photocopies will be accepted.

Depending on the offer you choose, there are 2 options for the 2 nights following the race:

• Option 1 – "Standard" Offer: Participants are accommodated in several hotels in Ouarzazate, all within a 5–10 minute walk from each other.
• Option 2 – "Superior" Offer: You will stay at the Berbère Palace, located in the city center.

At the hotel, participants are placed in double rooms with another person of the same sex and, as much as possible, who speaks the same language. If you wish, you can indicate in advance on your registration account the person you would like to share the room with.
