THE FORMAT

The MDS 120 Peru is an adventure usually held only once every three years. But after the resounding success of the 2025 edition and the high demand received, the MDS is exceptionally back in 2026 to offer you the 5th edition of the MDS 120 Peru.

This is a unique opportunity to experience an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Peru—don’t miss this chance, it’s now or never!

Embark on an adventure in the Ica Desert and spend a week out of time, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. The program includes a week of adventure with 3 stages to complete at your own pace—by walking or running. You will spend 3 nights at the MDS bivouac, along the Pacific Ocean, and 4 nights in hotels (2 nights before the adventure in Lima, 2 nights after in Paracas).

After the adventure, we strongly recommend extending your stay to discover the treasures of Peru, such as Machu Picchu and the Rainbow Mountains.

The event will only take place if a minimum of 200 participants is reached, with the final decision expected on April 30, 2026, or as soon as the threshold is met.

Do not book your plane ticket until the edition is confirmed.

PARTICULARITIES

A rare and spectacular adventure

The MDS 120 Peru is a rare and spectacular adventure that immerses you in the Peruvian coastal desert, amid towering dunes, the Pacific Ocean, and breathtaking landscapes. This unique event carries forward the legendary spirit of the MDS, self-sufficiency, bivouac, and solidarity, in a shorter and more accessible format: 3 stages of pure emotion.

With milder conditions than in Morocco and a completely immersive change of scenery, it’s the perfect opportunity to experience the MDS or take on a new challenge in South American lands.

BIVOUAC

LIFE AT THE BIVOUAC

Each night in the desert, you will sleep in your own individual tent at the MDS bivouac. The bivouac is organized in clusters of six tents and remains in the same location for the entire duration of the race.

It’s a place of connection, where strong bonds are formed, stories are shared, laughter echoes, and moments of mutual support happen. Here, there is no electricity, no mobile network, no showers, just the essentials to reconnect with nature, yourself, and others.

Located on the Pacific Ocean, in the middle of nowhere, participants will stay in the most beautiful bivouac of the MDS.

Self-Sufficiency

FOOD

The MDS 120 is run in complete food self-sufficiency. This means you’ll carry all your food for the 4 desert days in your backpack. The organization provides drinking water at the bivouac and at checkpoints, roughly every 8 to 12 km during each stage. After each stage, you’ll receive 5 liters of water to use for hydration, cooking, and basic hygiene until the next day.

To plan well, you should prepare between 10 and 12 meals, with a minimum daily intake of 2,000 kcal recommended. Many participants opt for freeze-dried meals, salty snacks, dried fruits, and energy bars, choosing lightweight options to keep their backpacks manageable.

This self-sufficient approach adds an intense personal challenge and makes crossing the finish line an even prouder achievement.

DISCOVER PERU

Before or after your immersion in the Ica Desert, the adventure can naturally continue in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. Many participants take advantage of their trip to explore the country’s great icons: the legendary Machu Picchu, perched between sky and mountains, the historic city of Cusco, former capital of the Inca Empire, or the impressive Montagne des 7 couleurs, whose mineral slopes create an extraordinary landscape.

For hiking enthusiasts and altitude challenge seekers, several treks are available in the region, including those operated by local specialists such as Salkantay Treks. Formats vary, most commonly over 3, 4, or 5 days, and can be freely integrated into your itinerary, before or after your experience in Ica.

Whether you are looking for a beautiful discovery, an immersion in the heart of the Andes, or simply an additional experience during your stay, everyone can organize their journey at their own pace. The duration of the trek, the difficulty level, and the order of visits can easily be adapted according to the time available and your travel preferences.
