Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert, welcomes runners into the silent expanses of the Sahara. Agadir, on the Atlantic coast, invites you to a fresher and more dynamic experience, between wild beaches and majestic mountains. These two regions, close yet contrasting, reflect the full richness and diversity of Morocco.

The Sahara & The Atlantic Coastal Desert

Morocco is home to several desert regions, but two lie at the heart of the MARATHON DES SABLES:

The Moroccan Sahara is a vast sea of red dunes and rocky plains, where colors shift throughout the day under spectacular light. With its grandiose landscapes, it’s a majestic and demanding playground for runners.

Less known but equally striking, the Atlantic Coastal Desert blends sand and ocean, offering unique scenery where dunes meet the sea. Here, the cool Atlantic breeze contrasts with the desert’s harshness, creating a truly one-of-a-kind atmosphere. For several days, participants live to the rhythm of the dunes, exploring these natural environments where humans are mere guests in a raw and preserved wilderness.

You’ll explore breathtaking scenery: the vast red dunes of the Sahara, rocky plateaus, wild beaches, and imposing mountains. On the course, you’ll cross wild desert stretches, where the changing light and colors offer spectacular panoramas and full immersion.
