WWTW MDS 2015Walking With The Wounded is delighted to have 19 runners taking part in the 30th anniversary race, all aiming to raise much needed funds to support our wounded service personnel.

We have two wounded team members taking part- Ibi Ali and Mark Wise, both of whom were part of the South Pole Allied Challenge in 2013 with Prince Harry.

Ibi Ali (MC) was part of the UK South Pole team with Prince Harry and Mark Wise who was in the US team with Alexander Skarsgard. We are also delighted to haveGraham Bell , the former Olympic Skier and TV presenter and Keith Senior, the former English professional Rugby League player joining us, along with Maj James Watson who is an Army Physio and the head of Lower Limb rehab at Headley Court.

WWTW does not fund expeditions, and our MDS places are being generously sponsored by Virgin Money. WWTW raises money to secure employment opportunities for our wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women. All funds raised by the endeavours of the MDS team will be allocated to the WWTW Head Start initiative - Walking With The Wounded’s programme to address the increasing needs of ex-service personnel suffering with mental injuries and sits alongside current provision through the NHS and other relevant charities. Research suggests for every physical injury there will be five mental injuries. For Iraq and Afghanistan alone we believe there are as many as 22,000 veterans suffering from mental health problems as a result of their service.

More information on this programme can be found on the WWTW website – www.wwtw.org.uk.
